Dose Guide
Sildenafil dose guide: reading 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg in context
Dose conversations should start with goals and safety—not internet “max strength” folklore. For erectile dysfunction, clinicians often begin around 50 mg taken as needed, then step down or up based on response, side effects, age, kidney/liver status, and interacting medicines.
Hard stop: Do not self-escalate beyond labeled instructions. Once-daily as-needed use is the usual ceiling unless a clinician directs otherwise.
How strengths are commonly used
| Tablet | Often discussed when… | Practical note |
|---|---|---|
| 25 mg | Extra caution is warranted | Older age, organ impairment, or interacting drugs |
| 50 mg | A typical first trial | Take ahead of activity; reassess after a few uses |
| 100 mg | 50 mg is inadequate but tolerated | Still usually limited to one dose per day |
Timing, meals, and alcohol
Many people notice an effect within about half an hour to an hour. A heavy, fatty meal can push onset later. Alcohol can amplify dizziness and can impair erection quality on its own—so “more drinks plus a higher dose” is a poor strategy.
